What a lovely weekend, the weather is so nice in London it’s not true. Spring, my favourite season by far. ‘In Just-spring when the world is mud-luscious the little lame balloonman whistles far and wee’ is how it feels here in Blackheath.
Jamie is back now from his Eastern travels and sets off to Paris for a few months next week, so we’re grappling with technology to see if we can write the fourth JPL album via webcam, so far we haven’t been able to IM between his PC and my Mac (!) so we’re struggling from the get go.
We went to see Simon Amstell at Etcetera in Camden on Friday night, he was trying out material for his forthcoming Edinburgh appearance, it was quite funny - but as he said ‘for £5 you only get thoughts, not comedy...’
Today I’m off work (and for the next three days) - which couldn’t be better timing, lots to do, lots to plan for. I’m simultaneously trying to sort out artwork and a video for ‘Backlash Cop’ which feels to me like an obvious single for the record. Because we’re pretty skint at the moment, we’re going to release the album first and the single/EP afterwards - that will give us more time to make the video and record more bonus tracks. That’s the plan at the moment anyhow.
Things to tell you about: The Young Playthings are playing in Guildford on Friday, March 16th; that same night I have a DJ set in Mason’s as part of Cahir’s STA Club Night he’s trying to get off the ground.
We head to Derry on Wednesday for this, St. Patricks Day and my 30th Birthday - it’s bound to be hectic.
I’ve decided to delete the spam-infested JPL Board - upgrade onto a new database and install the new phpBB boards on my return from Ireland at the end of March - if anyone would like to apply for the moderator’s job - please drop me an email. Thanks in advance.
Have you seen YahooPipes - it’s amazing, I’m going to try to build a JPL one for the site. I’m not sure why the YouTube video player that I’ve embedded doesn’t like you scrolling through the videos - if there is anyone clever out there that can fix that, please get in touch!
