Bit of a gap between blogs there, it’s been a busy couple of weeks. Scanning through the diary shows me that I’ve been in the studio mixing; visit youtube to see the footage on that; visiting New York city with mum and L. and going to see The Hold Steady.
The Hold Steady at The Borderline was fab; the atmosphere was really good and it wasn’t too packed. They are so at ease on stage and the press hasn’t gone to their heads, if anything the extra ticket sales seem to be spent on the onstage rider. The bass player got through about ninety fags and a full bottle of Jamesons.
I heard from Jamie today; he was telling me about his travels to Ayres Rock and future plans to see the Great Barrier Reef. Get in there quick Mr. B before the reef is gone I say; it sounds like an idyllic trip: the beaches, the beer.... ahh.
What other news can I tell you? Cahir has returned from his three European weeks on the road with Seafood, apparently a fantastic time was had by all. I’m more than a little jealous - I’d love a little European stint, maybe through Italy with a van driver who knows where all the best restaurants are.
The album still is not fully mixed, the bank have agreed to let us have some more money so I’m going back in to (hopefully) conclude matters this Saturday - Wednesday. I’m thrilled with how it sounds - I hope you will like it too.
Had a meeting last night regarding the artwork and packaging; I’m working with Matt Littler again and a fantastic designer/art-director called Andy Rouse. We always wanted this to be a real step forward sonically and visually and we couldn’t have better help with these two guys onboard.
It’s time to head home from work - I feel a bit weird at work now - I think that when I’m deep into band stuff everything else seems other-worldly; it’s not conducive to doing a good job - but then some things, like Coral Reefs are more important than humans and their business dealings.
I’m going to be thirty on March 22nd - so I’m writing a song called ‘Mid-life Crisis’; if I make it to 45 - I’ll write part two.
Kisses
